Rainbow flags alone don’t make Pride month. Pride is a community, a protest, and a call for action. To jog your memory a ‘lil bit, it’s when members of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies come together to commemorate the Stonewall riots that happened in New York City in 1969. Pride is a protest against violence, inequality, and hatred, and a celebration of the community’s diversity. It is taking a look at the history, and paying tribute to the people who made Pride happen. It is looking forward to a future of acceptance and equality.
Thankfully, you can help make Pride happen with just a simple donation. Your P300 can go a long way in funding this year’s march on June 29. What’s more, you’d even get a token in exchange for your donation. P300 gets you a pin and some stickers, P1,500 would get you an additional tote bag, P3,000 would come with a cap, and a P5,000 donation would get you all that plus a shirt. Just go to the Metro Manila Pride’s Go Fund Me account to donate.
