It’s almost cliche to travel right after graduating, but the way my friends and I did it was different — not only because we got to go to Boracay, Cebu, Iloilo, Guimaras, and Palawan all in five days, but because of how we got to do it. It’s been three years since we joined the travel adventure competition Juan for Fun, and it’s still up there as one of our favorite travel experiences. Did I mention it was all-expense paid?
For the uninitiated, Juan for Fun is Cebu Pacific’s way of bringing out the travel bug in today’s youth. Now on its eight year, Cebu Pac is changing what was once a backpacker challenge to an exciting and rewarding backpacking trip: it’s still for a week, still all-expense paid, and just as life-changing as before. This year’s Juan for Fun centers on personalized travel experiences with #MyHashtagTrip — it’s all about young people creating a travel itinerary driven by their hobbies and advocacies, like eco-warriors participating in environmental projects or foodies trying out everything they can eat a.k.a our team when we were in Juan for Fun. In this all-new Juan for Fun, participants get to travel around the Philippines (for free!)
Aside from the free trip, you also get to be mentored by this year’s travel coaches (Becoming Filipino’s Kulas Jennerman, travel writer Jude Bacalso, TV host Joyce Pring, and celebrity vlogger Mikael Daez) in an exclusive one-day workshop about travel experiences. We had the best time doing this: we even had to compete in a quiz show for certain destinations.
