Commonwealth enters the season with an exclusive Vans Vault collaboration

They’ll also be dropping their SS19 collection.

There’s no question that Commonwealth has been gaining major traction on all fronts over the past year. Apart from their consistent drops and features of exclusive collections, the Adidas Consortium collaboration is the truest testament to these big strides. Well, our trusted streetwear lifestyle store has a follow-up banger for us with their latest joint effort with Vans Vault, as well as a deep, loaded lineup of brands for their spring/summer ‘19 collection.

Vans Vault and Commonwealth took two classic silhouettes in the OG Era and OG Classic Slip-On, and gave it a sleek, dressed-up look that wouldn’t look amiss on either a tropical fit, or a casual work suit. The Era was run in a refreshing “Desert Sage,” which is an all-tonal minty green with “Every Generation Needs A New Revolution” embossed on the midsole. Meanwhile, the Classic Slip-On comes close to familiar wheat or Vachetta looks with their “Lark Tan” suede upper and glossy midsole which reads “People Everywhere Are Created Equal” or P.E.A.C.E. Both looks feature a subtle Commonwealth branding on the woven label’s backside. Both shoes are insanely clean sights to marvel at, and showcase the laser-focus vision of Commonwealth co-founders Mike Concepcion and Omar Quiambao.

Big strides: Brands we usually only see on Instagram are brought by co-founders Mike Concepcion and Omar Quiambao to Commonwealth branches in Greenbelt, SM Aura, and Power Plant Mall.

Side by side with the Vault drop would be the lineup of brands for their SS19 collection, which sees more eclectic lines than their previous releases, as well as familiar names. It’s clearly loaded, looking at the extensive list: Suicoke, Undercover, Our Legacy, Engineered Garments, Needles, Noon Goons, Neighborhood, Stone Island, Carhartt WIP, Stussy, Freshjive, Maharishi, Saturdays NYC, Aime Leon Dore, Nanamica, APC, Cave Empt, Wacko Maria, Billionaire Boys Club, Polythene Optics, and Commonwealth’s own line.

Commonwealth, with their branches in Greenbelt, SM Aura and Power Plant Mall, does so much for the local scene in terms of bringing brands we mostly only see on Instagram and retail sites to shelves we can check out ourselves. Mike Concepcion, cofounder of the store, is very proud of their diverse offerings. “These are brands that we’re fans of. We follow (them) and take appreciation to (their stuff). Ultimately, this is a privilege to be able to showcase what they do, here in Manila. This is probably our biggest introduction of a brand roster since we opened.”

Both the Vans Vault and SS19 collection dropped at their grand launch last May 23. Commonwealth invited their F&F, as well as media outlets to get a first look at their massive reveal of major heat. We had some killer buns from Ippudo, and meaty brisket sliders care of Mighty Quinn’s. From the drinks department, Compadre Craft brought their signature beers, while Bulleit Bourbon carried their liquors in delicious cocktails. The party bumped throughout the night thanks to beats from Badkiss and Mulan.
