I’m going to start this off by saying that I do not have an expansive vocabulary on punk, nor about the music of the last 100 years and the movements within them. But, even if you’re like me, you still might know a band called the Sex Pistols from a little-known movie called School of Rock. If you still don’t know that, then I think you may be a lost cause. I’m only kidding, of course. But it shouldn’t be a surprise that Dr. Martens recently released a collection featuring the iconic band. It only makes sense: both are iconoclasts that reach beyond their core audience.
For this special collection, Dr. Martens drew inspiration from the imagery that the equally influential artist Jamie Reid made for the Pistols. The classic 1460 8-eye boots we all lusted after in high school (even until today, let’s be real) are now emblazoned with lyrics and imagery from the iconic band. The collection also includes the 1490 10-eye boot and the 1925 steel toe.
