Hear these classic Pinoy love songs sung by the Filipino musicians of today

Spotify Jams puts a fresh spin on the OPM love songs of yore.

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and you know what that means: love songs will be blasting non-stop from each and every speaker in town, and there will be no escaping them. If you’re vehemently against anything Valentine-related, then I suggest you get some earplugs ASAP. But if not, then it might as well be the most wonderful time of the year (next to Christmas, I suppose).

What makes this season even better is that Spotify has come up with Spotify Jams: OPM Love Songs, where they commissioned a number of artists to put their own twist on classic Filipino love songs. The artists include Juan Karlos, who is covering Ikaw Ang Aking Mahal by VST & Company; Moira Dela Torre with Naaalala Ka by Rey Valera; Sarah Geronimo with 214 by Rivermaya; Silent Sanctuary with Pangako by Regine Velasquez; Ben & Ben with Beautiful Girl by Jose Mari Chan; and IV of Spades with Kung Ayaw Mo Wag Mo by Rivermaya. If anyone asks you one more time ‘kung uso pa ba ang harana, well, here’s your comeback.

These will be housed on Spotify’s all-new OPM Hub, which has been revamped for 2019 with fresh playlists. Its flagship playlist is now called Tatak Pinoy, which features the best trending OPM in the country. This is also where listeners can stream the new Spotify Jams love songs. The covers will be released on the music platform throughout the month of February. It began on Feb. 8 with Juan Karlos and Moira Dela Torre, followed by Sarah Geronimo and Silent Sanctuary on Valentine’s Day (that’s Feb. 14, in case you forgot), and Ben & Ben and IV of Spades on Feb. 22. And yes, in case you were wondering, these will be available for all standard and premium subscribers alike. Now stream your heart out.
