We all had that quintessential Hello Kitty item that we all loved growing up — whether it be that prized heart-shaped music box from Sanrio in Gift Gate or those costumes of the world stuffed toys from McDo, there’s no denying that the London-born, Japanese-designed cat was a staple in many households of the 90s and early 2000s.
While you go on to relive the nostalgia, it’s also best to remember that Hello Kitty is still alive and well, and she’s here to stay. Last December 9 to 11, young and old fans of the iconic cat were treated to an afternoon of fun, games, and surprises at the Hello Kitty Fair presented by Megaworld Lifestyle Malls. Toy Kingdom, Toy Town, and Toys R Us helped bring the fair to life with Hello Kitty merchandise.

Hello Kitty has always been a silent character to many of us, especially since growing up, there weren’t any anime released locally to associate with her. This is why, unlike Doraemon, we still don’t know what her voice sounds like. Get ready for your perception of her to change when the Hello Kitty Live – Fashion & Friends musical comes to town to tell us more about her own life and the lives of other Sanrio characters like Dear Daniel, My Melody, Bad Badtz-Maru, Pom Pom Purin and Mimmy. It’s an interactive story with pop hits that center on friendship, respect, talent, hard work, and creativity that’s sure to debunk a lot of the mysteries about our favorite feline.
And if you still can’t get enough of the character even after the musical, get ready to go on a themed café experience that takes you into her world with the new flagship Hello Kitty Café that is soon to open at Uptown Mall in Bonifacio Global City along with their pop-up café in SM North EDSA. Snack on Hello Kitty-themed dishes like pasta, frappes, and fruit as you enjoy the kawaii interiors. To complete your Hello Kitty fix, don’t forget to stop by your nearest SM Department Store to check out the newest items from Sanrio.
