While there are certainly more venues to tune in to live music from our favorite local artists, nowadays, not all of us are night owls who can venture out to the usual gig places every so often. Gigs usually run late, which doesn’t really help if you’ve come from a long day of work.
Lucky for us, Power Mac Center is back this November with another round of Sync Sessions. For those who haven’t been to a session before, the concept is simple: they give local musicians the technology to record and redefine their music (think: with Apple devices and iOS apps like GarageBand), and we get to hear the results live at their stores.
The best part about this year’s 12-artist lineup is that it’s spread out over four Saturdays across different Power Mac Center branches around the Metro. Though we missed the south-based SM Mall of Asia and Greenbelt branch sessions featuring Ang Bandang Shirley, Oh Flamingo, Barbie Almalbis, and others last October, there’s still time to catch QUEST, Jensen & the Flips, and Reese Lansangan on Nov. 4 at SM Megamall, and Ben&Ben, Cheats, and Autotelic at TriNoma on Nov. 11.
Sync Sessions are meant to be intimate gatherings between musicians and their fans, and the event never disappoints. All sessions happen in the afternoon until early evening, so no need to worry about missing your curfew. With guaranteed impromptu photo ops and first dibs on new music, it’s clear that everybody wins here.
