I’ve had many birthdays in this lifetime, but my seventh birthday party was the most memorable. That was the first time my parents threw a party outside our home and in a fast-food chain (which, for any normal kid, is the freaking jackpot). It had mascots, parlor games and giveaways. My Super Sweet Sixteen had nothing on it.
Last March 26, Lazada also threw a massive celebration for its seventh birthday at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (BSD) in Jakarta. The Super Party was livestreamed on the Lazada app for the entire SEA region to see and garnered a total of 12 million views. Aside from the concert, users also enjoyed the LazGame where you can play Fruit Slash, Birthday Blast and Popping Balloons to score more discounts within the app. I mean, with Dua Lipa headlining the concert, discount vouchers to be earned while playing games, who wouldn’t want to join in the fun?
I didn’t know what to expect coming into the concert. All I knew was Dua Lipa would be performing, and that Sam Concepcion, Nadine Lustre and Pia Wurtzbach would also be there to rep the Philippines. What I got, though, was something else. It was big production number after big production number, rivaling the American Music Awards or even the Grammys. It introduced me to some of the biggest acts around Southeast Asia like UrboyTJ, Saykoji, and my new favorite power pop star Agnez Mo, who gave a performance that kind of rivaled Beyoncé’s Hold Up.
