Lazada’s Super Party pulled out all the stops with their 7th birthday celebration

I’ve had many birthdays in this lifetime, but my seventh birthday party was the most memorable. That was the first time my parents threw a party outside our home and in a fast-food chain (which, for any normal kid, is the freaking jackpot). It had mascots, parlor games and giveaways. My Super Sweet Sixteen had nothing on it.

Last March 26, Lazada also threw a massive celebration for its seventh birthday at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (BSD) in Jakarta. The Super Party was livestreamed on the Lazada app for the entire SEA region to see and garnered a total of 12 million views. Aside from the concert, users also enjoyed the LazGame where you can play Fruit Slash, Birthday Blast and Popping Balloons to score more discounts within the app. I mean, with Dua Lipa headlining the concert, discount vouchers to be earned while playing games, who wouldn’t want to join in the fun?

I didn’t know what to expect coming into the concert. All I knew was Dua Lipa would be performing, and that Sam Concepcion, Nadine Lustre and Pia Wurtzbach would also be there to rep the Philippines. What I got, though, was something else. It was big production number after big production number, rivaling the American Music Awards or even the Grammys. It introduced me to some of the biggest acts around Southeast Asia like UrboyTJ, Saykoji, and my new favorite power pop star Agnez Mo, who gave a performance that kind of rivaled Beyoncé’s Hold Up.

Under the SEA: Sam Concepcion and Nadine Lustre repped the PH and performed a mashup of St4y Up and No Limitations at Lazada’s Super Party in Jakarta, Indonesia

Right after the party, they threw a massive sale in-app: 70 million vouchers and 90 percent off on 80 million items. Every awesome birthday party should end with a loot bag, and Lazada basically gave the gift that keeps on giving.

Before hitting the stage to perform a mashup of St4y Up and No Limitations, I asked Sam and Nadine what they would give their seven-year-old selves from the Lazada sale. “You can practically buy anything from Lazada. Honestly, I would buy furniture for my 26-year-old self,” Sam said with a laugh, then added, “but for my seven-year-old self, maybe Beyblade or Tamiya with a track. I had that when I was a kid. You know how like when you have the metal thing, it’s like ‘hey he’s serious.’” As for Nadine’s seven-year-old self? “I’d say a vacuum.” Pause for laughter and disbelief. “I don’t know, I just had this thing for organizing and cleaning, even at such a young age.” And honestly sis, same.
