If you ask anyone who is good — actually, really good — about what they did to get to that level, they will probably tell you that they had a good mentor, or learned from someone they looked up to. There is no one way to go about things, and it goes without saying, but learning from someone wiser will almost always benefit your work, especially if you’re a photographer.
This is why photographer Cru Camara decided to organize Offshoot, a twoday lecture series on Oct. 19 and 20 featuring some of the industry’s most recognized names. The talks will explore the landscape of Philippine photography, led by a variety of photographers and editors working in different parts of the industry. Its aim is to create a discussion that will “educate image makers of every level on the different aspects of photography, especially in the context of the local scene.”
