These days, we all need a little more love. The #LoveIsAllWeNeed campaign was able to give exactly that, but to unlikely candidates: senators who are fighting against the SOGIE Equality Bill.
The SOGIE (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression) Equality Bill, also known as the Anti-Discrimination Bill, aims to provide protection against sex and gender-based discrimination. No more denial of public services, health services, employment, and education – so basically: how things should be. The bill’s next step is to be included in the agenda of the Senate, where opposition for the bill has been quite evident.
For the SOGIE bill to be passed in the Senate, it needs all the help it can get. #LoveIsAllWeNeed is a social media campaign that aims to get support from SOGIE’s detractors in the Senate like Senator Manny Pacquiao, Senator Joel Villanueva, and the Senate President himself, Senator Tito Sotto. To join, all you need to do is send these senators words of love despite their hate for the bill.
On July 23 at 8 p.m., the detractors of the bill started receiving letters of love for their acceptance and support. Here are some of our favorites:
Personalities like Karen Davila, Heart Evangelista, Anne Curtis, BJ Pascual, and Arnold van Opstal have posted their support — and you should too. Join us in our fight for an inclusive society, one free of discrimination and just full of love. Show your support by sending a message of love and using the hashtag #LoveIsAllWeNeed
