Researching on what smartphone to buy doesn’t have to be boring.
Getting a new phone isn’t a small decision. Smartphones have gotten so advanced over the past years, they’ve become true extensions of our lives. But that only makes deciding which phone to get so damn difficult, because, let’s face it, these things aren’t cheap, and you’re going to have to stick with your choice for maybe one or two years.
So how do you decide? Product reviews online have been a godsend (the ones by The Verge and MKBHD are pretty great), but trying out a phone for yourself before buying it is still the way to go. Sure, there are stores where you can try one out for a couple of minutes on the premises, but to actually experience what a phone can do is a different thing.
This is what Samsung offers with its newly minted Galaxy Studio in Bonifacio High Street in BGC. Located in the open area near 7th Avenue (you won’t miss it), the pop-up store features Samsung’s mobile lineup for customers to try out. Of course, it highlights Samsung’s latest flagship device, the Note 8.
The Note 8 experience at the Galaxy Studio starts at the Gear VR 4D Theatre, where you’ll be taken on a ride on mechanical seats that move depending on the content you’re viewing on the virtual reality headset (the roller coaster ride is pretty convincing). Up next is the IP68 Liquid Canvas, which showcases the Note 8’s waterproofing and dual cameras. You take a selfie with the phone, choose a fun filter, and dunk it on the screen submerged in water, and the screen displays your photo. Trust me, it’s much cooler in person. The third attraction at the Galaxy Studio is the Art Zone, where you can play with the Note 8’s signature S-Pen and create digital works of art. The phones are set up on tables and are hooked up to huge displays mounted on the walls, so you can see your work both up close on the phone and on a bigger screen.
Apart from the Note 8, there are a lot of other products to play with at the pop-up store, including tablets, VR headsets and 360-degree cameras. Come November, there will be even more things to experience, like an interactive table and a snow globe with the help of Samsung’s Gear 360. Now you’ll have a much easier time deciding whether you should buy into Samsung’s universe.
The Samsung Galaxy Studio is open 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. on Sundays to Thursdays, and 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. It will be open until March 2018. For more information, visit samsung.com/ph and follow them on Instagram at @samsungph.
