They broke into the mainstream with “Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix,” and followed that opus up with the equally infectious “Bankrupt!” Some of us might’ve gone back to “Alphabetical” to deepen our love for these boys of Versailles. Now, after some months of promotion, Phoenix has finally released their latest album, “Ti Amo.”
According to an interview with the band conducted by SPIN, the album was made to focus on “simple, pure emotions: love, desire, lust, and innocence.” Safe to say, Phoenix has delivered exactly on that with another great record. It should be exponentially more satisfying then, to hear the tracks of “Ti Amo” mix up in a setlist with the band’s other songs in a live setting, when they come to perform here at Araneta Coliseum, this coming August 15, 2017.
Those who may have missed Phoenix’s previous visit on January 2014 can catch them again thanks to Karpos Multimedia, who are organizing this year’s concert. Karpos is known for having brought other globally renowned acts through Philippine shores, which include but aren’t limited to: alt-J, Bombay Bicycle Club, and Death Cab for Cutie. It’s their name always attached to Wanderland each year, so you know Phoenix live in Manila this time around is going to be one hell of a show.
