Though the digital file is plenty good in itself, there’s nothing quite like the thrill of having your favorite album on vinyl. The record is often so carefully and thoughtfully packaged that it’s impossible not to appreciate. I have always been inspired by album cover artwork, so it’s a treat to see it blown up on a cardboard sleeve. The traditional nature of vinyl also taught me to respect the track listing of a record and always have the first listen as the artist intended.
As a natural enthusiast of music, writing, and visual art, my love for the vinyl record feels written in the stars. It sounds pretentious, I know, but what if I told you that you could have brand new copies of your favorite albums on vinyl without completely breaking the bank? You’d be lacing up your black Vans Classics and taking the next Angkas to whatever I was talking about.
Lucky for you, Satchmi and Levi’s are bringing us Vinyl Day 2019: Your Yearly Vinylscope on July 13. This is the place to be for all music lovers, no matter your sun, moon, or rising. The event will be held at The Axon, Green Sun, Makati from 11 am to 12 mn. You can get up to 50% on your favorite vinyls, or even score a sweet deal for that iconic Motorino suitcase turntable. Film Folk will also be at the venue with their selection of disposable cameras and film rolls, so make some space in those tote bags.
As per usual, there will be live acts on the scene, expect some out-of-this-world sets from Autotelic, Clara Benin, Reese Lansangan, Dane Hipolito, Munimuni, I Belong to the Zoo, Cheats, Oh, Flamingo!, Over October, Lola Amour, Any Name’s Okay, Kremesoda, We Are Imaginary, Dante & Amigo, and Extrapolation. The best part? No door charge. It’s all free, as always.
You can pre-register for Satchmi Vinyl Day 2019 at https://tinyurl.com/vinylday2019, but don’t fret if there are no tickets left; walk-ins are permitted.
