YS Sunday Self-Care Package: Oreo thins, moisturizer, and freak folk

It’s that time of the week where you can sit back and relax with these music, food, and beauty picks. This Sunday, we’re all about freak folk, K-Pop, modified Oreos, and hair moisturizer.

Just Another Diamond Day by Vashti Bunyan

Even though she made her career debut in 1970, you’re unlikely to find any album of hers on your parents’ CD collection. But even though she was underappreciated during her time, Vashti Bunyan made quite an impact on culture — singer-songwriters such as Devendra Banhart and Joanna Newsom consider her an influence. Who else holds the honorable title of “the Godmother of Freak Folk?” We recommend you listen to her first album which, despite having been released over four decades ago, sounds strangely contemporary, in a weird, indie sort of way.

What we learned

Being understood can take time.

Where to get it

You can find Just Another Diamond Day and Vashti Bunyan’s other albums on Spotify.

BTS “Her” Serendipity Comeback Trailer

Big Hit Entertainment surprised BTS fans earlier this week by releasing a trailer for the group’s upcoming album, “Her”. In the Serendipity trailer, we get BTS vocal line member Jimin serving up some damn good visuals. Even non K-Pop fans are sure to appreciate the simple yet stunning shots, featuring Jimin doing stuff like hiding under a blanket and watching the night sky (think: The Little Prince meets Wes Anderson).

What we learned

Yellow might just be our new fave color.

Where to get it

Check out the trailer on YouTube.

Moroccan Argan Hair Moisturizer by Ancient Secrets

I impulsively got a haircut this week and I really hate how I now look like I came straight from a yearbook pictorial in 2004. This hair moisturizer has been keeping my stray hairs at bay and has been leaving it more conditioned than usual. Recommending you buy it today for a better hair week ahead.

What we learned
Don’t impulsively cut your hair. If you did, better have the best styling cream with you.

Where to get it
Rustan’s Beauty Source.

Oreo thins

Just when you thought that Oreos couldn’t be any better, they came out with a thinner version. Oreo thins are like the edges of a really toasted brownie or the little crispy bits of fries: they’re amazing. You get all the good parts in one bite, and  you don’t even have to feel guilty about it. Oreo thins come in vanilla and tiramisu flavors.

What we learned

Good things come in small packages.

Where to get it

Oreo is available in supermarkets nationwide.
