These events will heat up your February

Who said that February is all about Valentine’s Day?

February may be the month of romance, but it doesn’t have to be all about relationships. This month can also be about falling in love with art, in any way, shape, or form. February’s filled up with exciting events that feature the best art that the Philippines has to offer, from the celebrated Art Fair to book sales and art markets. So go out, have fun, and meet your next favorite thing.

Art Fair 2020

The highly coveted Art Fair is in its eighth year with various exhibits and new spaces for various mediums of art. There’s the ArtFairPH/Open Studios, which is a series of workshops and demonstrations about art, ArtFairPH/Film, which will celebrate the last 100 years of Philippine cinema, and ArtFairPH/Incubators, an interactive space infused with technology. Don’t forget to take as many stories and photos as you can! Regular tickets are priced at P350, but if you’re a student, you can get in at P150.

Art Fair Philippines will be at The Ayala Link Center Makati from Feb. 21-23. More details here

Japan Film Week

If you love anime and wish to see it on the big screen, then you now have a chance to do so. The Film Development Council of the Philippines in partnership with Japan Foundation will be screening beloved Japanese films from the popular Weathering With You to the highly acclaimed Maquiao: When the Promised Flower Blooms at Cinematheque Centres nationwide.

Screenings will be held on Feb. 26-29 at Cinematheque Centers nationwide. More details here.

Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival

If you’re into a more holistic festival experience, then Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival is here for you. You can bring friends or your whole family to this eco-friendly experience filled with engaging outdoor activities like archery or biking. You can also bask in the surroundings with live music from bands and DJs like Cory Henry and The Funk Apostles and Mike Love. It’s an experience like no other, so if you’re looking for a breather, Malasimbo can take you to fun (and peaceful!) heights.

Tickets start at P2,500. Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival will be at La Mesa Eco Park in Quezon City on Feb. 19 and 20. More details here.

Sticker Con MNL

Stickers have their own time to shine too at Sticker Con MNL. Currently, in its third year, this convention is a concoction of references from popular culture in sticker form. From your favorite K-pop idols, Netflix shows, drag queens, or even ramen, there’s a whole lot of stickers to choose from. Sticker hoarding is highly encouraged. Gates open at 10 a.m., and tickets are at P100.

Sticker Con MNL will be held on Feb. 29 at JYC Halls A and B of Bayanihan Center, Pasig City. More details here.
